Baburam Bhattarai: New party formed in line with the spirit of the Gen-Z movement

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, a leader of the newly announced Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party, said the party was formed in accordance with the essence of the Gen-Z movement.

Speaking at the party’s announcement event in Kathmandu on Sunday, Bhattarai said the Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party emerged as a product of the Gen-Z uprising, reflecting the sentiments and aspirations of Gen-Z youth.

He noted that political restructuring is necessary to meet the expectations of Gen-Z youth, adding that Nepal cannot move forward with the rest of the world without such change.

Bhattarai said the new party is closely aligned with the Gen-Z generation and, therefore, young people must take leadership roles within the organization.

He also argued that deceitful tendencies have surfaced within the communist sphere, suggesting that such forces will not remain strong for long. Bhattarai added that alternative political forces must unite to strengthen democracy, which he said is currently under strain, and to navigate the country through a complex geopolitical environment.
