Myanglung–Tamor Lubughat road section being upgraded

TEHRATHUM: The 18-kilometer road section from Myanglung to Tamor Lubughat in Tehrathum district is currently undergoing upgrades. Myanglung Municipality Wards 1 and 2 have been working together on the project for the past week.

According to Ward 1 Chairman Buddhiraj Limbu, both wards will share the budget equally once the work is completed. Ward 2 Chairman Rajkumar Limbu said that around 80 percent of the upgrade has already been finished.

The two wards are upgrading the previously unpaved road using municipal excavators and tractors. This route is an important link that connects the district headquarters with Phidim in neighboring Panchthar district.

It also serves as the main road used by residents of Kummayak Rural Municipality in Panchthar to reach the Furaha Hatiya market in Myanglung. Because of this, the road is considered vital for people in both Tehrathum and Panchthar.

Myanglung is the nearest large market for Kummayak, so agricultural and livestock products—such as pulses, almonds, maize, chicken, and piglets—are routinely brought here for sale. Farmers who once had to walk for hours to transport their goods can now travel more easily by tractor from Lubughat to Myanglung after the road improvements.

Heavy rains had previously created deep potholes, making vehicle movement difficult. Once the upgrade is completed, it will ease travel for residents coming to Myanglung from Kummayak.

The improved road will also help facilitate movement from Myanglung to Dharan in Sunsari via the Panchthar–Phidim and Tamor corridor routes.
