One killed in motorcycle–tractor collision in Mechinagar



JHAPA: One person has died in a motorcycle accident on the inner road section of Heldubari, Mechinagar Municipality–15.

The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Binod Raut of the same ward, according to District Police Office spokesperson Khagendra Bahadur Khadka.

The accident occurred on Saturday evening when a motorcycle (PR1-01-013 Pa 3336) travelling from Bhadrapur toward Intabhatta collided with a tractor (PR1-01-001 Ta 9977) parked on the roadside.

The motorcycle rider, Raut, and 21-year-old pillion passenger Nischal Bhujel sustained severe head and body injuries and were rushed to B&C Hospital in Birtamod. Raut died during treatment. Police have taken the tractor and its driver into custody for further investigation.

In a separate incident, 72-year-old Sampatlal Rajbanshi of Shivasatakshi Municipality–5 died on Saturday after collapsing at Keybari Bazaar in Gauriganj Rural Municipality–1, where he had gone to trade seeds.

He was taken to Damak Hospital after suddenly fainting in the afternoon, but doctors pronounced him dead later in the evening, spokesperson Khadka said.
