Devotees without siblings receive tika at Rani Pokhari’s Bal Gopaleshwar Temple on Bhai Tika

On the main day of the Tihar festival, hundreds of people without brothers or sisters observed Bhai Tika at the historic Bal Gopaleshwar Temple located at Rani Pokhari in Kathmandu, celebrating the festival of love, faith, and affection among siblings. Although the auspicious time for Bhai Tika was set at 11:39 AM, the temple opened to the public early in the morning. According to priest Bhemba Koirala, around 1,500 devotees had received tika by midday.

NA Chair Dahal engages in bilateral meetings on sidelines of IPU Assembly

Chairperson of the National Assembly (NA), Narayan Prasad Dahal, has said Nepal is working actively for strengthening democracy by ensuring the timely conduct of elections. Chair Dahal, who is currently in Geneva, Switzerland, to attend the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), made the remarks during a bilateral meeting with an Indian parliamentary delegation led by Anurag Singh Thakur. During the meeting held on the sidelines of the IPU Assembly on Thursday, the NA Chairperson briefed the Indian parliamentarians’ delegation about the recent Gen Z demonstrations in Nepal, the subsequent formation of an interim government, and the announcement of fresh elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) scheduled for March 5, 2026, according to Dahal’s Secretariat.

No discussion held about joining any party: Minister Ghising

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kulman Ghising has clarified that there has been no discussion about him joining any political party. Responding to reports linking him with the Ujyalo Nepal Party and claims that he is set to become its chairperson, Minister Ghising said he has taken serious note of the misleading information circulated on social media and in various media outlets.

Sandeep Lamichhane accuses YouTube channel of attempted character assassination

Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has accused YouTube channel Paradygm TV of attempting to assassinate his character by making conspiratorial and defamatory content targeting his personal life. Taking to Facebook, Lamichhane expressed anger over what he called a deliberate attack on his dignity and privacy. “You may choose whoever you want for your programs, but sitting on a YouTube chair and mocking someone’s life is shameful,” he wrote.

Rs 150 million worth of projects implemented for irrigation and landslide control

The Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project, Bhanu Tanahun, has implemented projects worth over Rs 150 million for irrigation and landslide control this fiscal year. According to the office, various schemes amounting to Rs 157.5 million have been launched under the program. Project Chief Supindra Khatri said that a total budget of Rs 30 million has been allocated for five major projects.

Road connecting Ghyansikharka and Lulang reopens after four months

Traffic has resumed on the road connecting Ghyansikharka of Raghuganga Rural Municipality–8 and Lulang of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality–2 of Myagdi after remaining closed for four months. The road linking Lulang to Raghuganga Rural Municipality–7 had been blocked since last Asar after the water level in the Darkhola River, which flows between Ghyansikharka and Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality–2, rose due to the Malang landslide in Chimkhola.

Ninety percent of Doda River bridge construction completed

Around 90 percent of the construction work on the bridge being built over the Doda River in Kanchanpur has been completed. According to Harish Prasad Joshi, Information Officer at the Road Division Office in Mahendranagar, the project aims to finish by the end of December. The superstructure of the bridge has already been completed, and work is currently underway to build retaining walls and fill soil on both sides of the bridge, he said.

FOREX: Euro and Pound decline slightly as US dollar holds steady

Nepal Rastra Bank has announced today’s foreign exchange rates, showing a slight decline in the European Euro and the British Pound Sterling, while the US dollar remains stable. According to the central bank, the buying rate of one US dollar has been fixed at Rs 140.39 and the selling rate at Rs 140.99. The buying rate of one European Euro stands at Rs 162.68 and the selling rate at Rs 163.83, while the buying and selling rates for one UK Pound Sterling are Rs 186.91 and Rs 187.71 respectively. Similarly, one Swiss Franc is being bought at Rs 176.14 and sold at Rs 176.89.

Chhath preparations in full swing across Janakpur

With the conclusion of the Deepawali festival, preparations are now in full swing for the upcoming Chhath festival in Janakpurdham. As the festival approaches, ponds and lakes across the city are being cleaned and decorated. Several of them have already been fully cleaned. Chhath, a festival dedicated to the Sun God, is traditionally celebrated with elaborate rituals by the Hindu community in the Terai region, including Janakpur. In recent years, the celebration has gradually spread to other parts of the country as well.
