Promoting good governance and social transformation are govt priorities: Chief Minister Acharya

LUMBINI: Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has expressed confidence that the Tihar festival will help strengthen the spirit of social unity, harmony, and brotherhood.

In his message of best wishes issued today on the occasion of Tihar, Chief Minister Acharya urged everyone to embrace the values and messages of the festival, which guide society toward truth, justice, and positive thinking.

He said that Tihar, one of Nepal’s original cultural festivals, highlights the interdependent relationship between humans, nature, and animals. He further noted that the festival plays an important role in deepening affection, social unity, and collective responsibility between brothers and sisters.

Referring to the tradition of carrying out socially beneficial and creative activities with funds collected during Deusi and Bhailo, Chief Minister Acharya described it as a shared cultural heritage that must be preserved and promoted.

He emphasized that the values and norms of Tihar are rooted in discipline, harmony, and mutual cooperation, and that the provincial government has been promoting good governance and social transformation through such cultural practices.

Chief Minister Acharya informed that the provincial government has taken concrete steps to reduce administrative expenses, enhance transparency, and curb corruption by prioritizing good governance.

He added that the government has demonstrated its commitment to people-centered governance by abolishing unnecessary service facilities for former high officials.

He further stated that the province is advancing toward self-reliant and innovation-driven development by incorporating the aspirations and energy of the younger generation.

Programs focused on agriculture, livestock, entrepreneurship, and employment are being implemented to achieve the vision of “Prosperous Lumbini, Happy Citizens.”

Chief Minister Acharya also underscored that lasting solutions to the nation’s challenges can only be achieved through the full implementation of the Constitution. He called for a collective commitment from all sectors to ensure stability, good governance, and sustainable development.
