Local winds influence weather as monsoon weakens



KATHMANDU: With the monsoon winds gradually weakening, local winds are beginning to influence weather patterns across the country. As a result, varying conditions are expected, especially in the hilly regions.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather this afternoon is expected to be generally cloudy in the hilly areas, including Koshi Province, and partly cloudy elsewhere.

Moderate rainfall is likely at a few locations in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, with isolated rainfall possible in hilly areas of other provinces and the Terai. There is also a chance of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces.

Later today, the weather will remain generally cloudy in the hilly areas of Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces and partly cloudy in other regions. Moderate rainfall is expected in some hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces, as well as in a few places in other hilly regions and isolated areas in the Terai.

Tonight, the hilly areas across the country are forecast to be generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy skies.
