Landslide blocks road in Tokha

KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall on Friday triggered a landslide at Lamapakha Chowk in Tokha Municipality-4, completely blocking the road and disrupting electricity supply in the area.

The landslide, which occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, brought down a transformer and six electric poles, cutting power since Friday evening, according to locals.

Residents said the collapse was caused by poor-quality construction work carried out during the building of a park in the area by the ward office.

While no human casualties have been reported, a tree brought down by the landslide caused minor damage to a nearby branch of SalesBerry supermarket.
