Monsoon activity to increase today, heavy rain expected



KATHMANDU: The monsoon’s low-pressure trough is currently positioned near its average location. Additionally, the influx of moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal is expected to enhance monsoon activity.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, skies will remain generally cloudy across the country. Moderate rainfall is likely in some hilly areas and in a few locations across the Terai.

The Division has also forecast the possibility of heavy rainfall in the Terai region of Lumbini Province, as well as in one or two places in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

Tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy in most hilly areas, including Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, and partly cloudy in the rest of the country. Moderate rainfall is expected in some areas of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, and in a few locations elsewhere.

There is also a chance of heavy rainfall in one or two places in the hilly areas of Gandaki Province and the Terai region of Lumbini Province.
