Nepali Congress issues whip to lawmakers for Tuesday’s budget vote

KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition partner, Nepali Congress, has issued a whip to its lawmakers ahead of Tuesday’s House of Representatives meeting.

Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire informed party members through an internal message, instructing them to be present in the session and vote in favor of the Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2025/26.

The whip explicitly directs MPs to remain present, refrain from staying neutral, and support the budget proposal scheduled to be tabled for decision during the June 24 parliamentary meeting.

The Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2025/26 was originally presented to the Federal Parliament by the government on May 29. The bill will be put to a vote in Tuesday’s session.

Earlier, the main coalition partner, CPN-UML, also issued a similar whip. UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula instructed all party lawmakers to be present and vote in favor of the bill.
