POKHARA: CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Resham Bahadur Jugjali tore up the budget booklet from the Gandaki Provincial Assembly rostrum, expressing outrage over what he described as repeated injustice toward his home district, Myagdi.
During discussions on the budget for three ministries, Jugjali accused the provincial government—dominated by Nepali Congress and CPN-UML—of sidelining Myagdi.
He claimed that although over Rs 350 million in new projects were selected, they were exclusively allocated to areas represented by rival parties.
Jugjali, who represents one of the two provincial constituencies in Myagdi (both held by Maoist Centre), declared the budget meaningless for his district.
“For two years, Myagdi has been neglected,” he said, offering to take the physical infrastructure and finance ministers on a personal tour of Myagdi at his own expense.
Calling the budget unjust and partisan, he sought the Speaker’s permission before tearing the booklet, stating, “This has no meaning to us. I want to boycott this budget.”
