PM Oli vows to crush monarchy revival efforts

POKHARA: Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has asserted that the CPN-UML is at the forefront of efforts to safeguard the rights of the people and the sovereignty of the nation, vowing to resist all forms of regressive attempts.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 10th National Convention of the National Youth Association Nepal today, Prime Minister Oli warned against harboring illusions about the return of the monarchy.

“There is no sign in anyone’s horoscope of the monarchy making a comeback,” he said, referring to recent pro-monarchy sentiments.

His remarks came in response to Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden’s recent statement, in which Lingden called for the restoration of the monarchy and mockingly suggested that the Prime Minister should be provided with a helicopter to flee the country.

Oli criticized such rhetoric, stating, “They’ve gone as far as suggesting helicopter escape routes for the Prime Minister. I want to make it clear: any regressive attempt will be crushed into powder. The Youth Association must take the lead in resisting such efforts. We must be vigilant and ready to counter these challenges at any time.”

The Prime Minister also claimed that the UML is facing a coordinated and comprehensive attack from both internal and external forces.

“Had we made fundamental mistakes, we would not be standing where we are today. We are a party committed to sound policies, good governance, and development,” he said, urging supporters not to be swayed by misinformation and political manipulation.

Addressing what he described as a deliberate effort to erase the contributions of the UML, Oli stressed the need for unity among patriots and party members.

“Unjust and baseless allegations are being directed at UML leadership. It is crucial that we remain united and expose attempts to spread confusion,” he added.
