KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed security agencies to make no compromises when it comes to maintaining peace and security, calling it the foundation of national stability.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Madhesh Province-level security seminar in Janakpur on Friday, Minister Lekhak emphasized that peace and security are essential for ensuring good governance.
He urged all security agencies to carry out their duties with discipline and a strong sense of responsibility.
“Without peace and security, development, prosperity, and economic activities cannot move forward,” he said, noting that weak security conditions during the decade-long armed conflict had severely disrupted development efforts.
Highlighting growing concerns along Nepal’s borders, Lekhak pointed out that illegal imports are reducing national revenue, weakening internal trade, and contributing to rising crime. He called on security personnel to intensify efforts to address these issues.
The Home Minister also stressed the importance of disaster preparedness, citing Nepal’s vulnerability to natural disasters. He underscored the critical role of security agencies in disaster response and called for comprehensive readiness to protect lives and property.
