Widespread rain expected across the country today

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has forecasted rain for most parts of the country today (Friday).

This afternoon, the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces are likely to see partly to mostly cloudy skies. In contrast, the rest of the country is expected to remain mostly clear with some areas experiencing partial cloud cover.

Light to moderate rain, possibly accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely in several areas within Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces. Scattered showers are also expected in the hilly areas of other provinces. Additionally, light rain or snowfall could occur in a few locations within the high hills and mountainous regions.

By nightfall, similar weather conditions are anticipated in parts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, with continued chances of light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms. Light snowfall or rain may also affect some mountainous and high-altitude areas.

According to meteorologists, the current weather pattern is influenced by westerly and local winds, combined with moist air masses flowing in from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. These elements are contributing to widespread cloud formation, rainfall, and snow in various regions.
