NC-UML coalition lacks legitimacy, govt must step down: Maoist Center

KATHMANDU: The Maoist Center has stated that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli no longer holds the moral authority to remain in office, even for a single day.

Speaking at a press conference held at the party headquarters in Parisdanda on Wednesday, party spokesperson and vice-chairman Agni Prasad Sapkota stated that the current government has completely lost its political legitimacy and has failed to justify its existence.

“The coalition is unnatural, non-transparent, and contrary to constitutional ethics,” said Sapkota, adding that the government has not accomplished a single act in favor of the nation or the people.

He further claimed the alliance between the Nepali Congress and UML has failed to prove its legitimacy and must therefore step down immediately.

The Maoist Center also criticized the coalition for undermining the anti-corruption drive launched under the previous Prachanda-led administration, alleging that it has selectively punished officials who were working to promote good governance.

Spokesperson Sapkota accused the government of engaging in vindictive actions, protecting its allies while abusing authority to suppress dissent.

“The government’s decisions clearly favor vested interests and go against the public and national interest,” he said.

He also condemned the government’s treatment of teachers, accusing it of humiliating educators instead of addressing their legitimate demands.

The Maoist Center has called for the immediate passage of the Education Bill through a fast-track process to fulfill those demands.
