Congress reaffirms commitment to republican constitution



KATHMANDU: The ruling Nepali Congress has reiterated its firm commitment to the federal democratic republic.

In a meeting of the party’s central executive committee held at its Sanepa headquarters on Sunday, the Congress leadership concluded that there is no need to change the current political system.

“The Constitution of Nepal was drafted with direct participation of elected representatives, exercising the sovereignty vested in the people. Nepali Congress remains fully committed to this constitution and the federal democratic republic it upholds,” the party stated.

The party emphasized that good governance, corruption control, and social reforms can be achieved through the protection, promotion, and implementation of the constitution. It also pledged to take proactive steps toward ensuring continuous national progress.
