Gautam urges UML-affiliated journalists to reach consensus on leadership

BIRATNAGAR: CPN-UML’s head of the Publicity Department, Rajendra Gautam, has urged journalists affiliated with the party to elect their new leadership through consensus.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the 10th General Convention of Press Chautari Nepal in Biratnagar on Sunday, Gautam emphasized that this was not an election of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) but a gathering of UML-affiliated journalists.

“Some friends here are actively lobbying for leadership positions,” he said. “It’s natural to have aspirations, but the party is also involved in Press Chautari’s leadership selection. Everyone should be mindful of that: this is not an FNJ election.”

He further stated that the party expects a consensus-based leadership selection across the country. “We have been asked to ensure consensus nationwide, and we will do so,” Gautam added. “As the in-charge of Press Chautari Nepal, I reiterate that the party has a vested interest in this process, and everyone should acknowledge that.”
