Tikapur Literature Festival to be held from March 8

KATHMANDU: The second edition of the ‘Tikapur Literature Festival’ will take place from March 8 to 10, 2025.

This year’s festival will focus on Nepal’s first playwright and a national pride of the Far West, Pahalman Singh Swar.

Titled ‘Pahalman Singh Swar Literature Special Edition,’ the festival will kick off with a scholarly discussion led by writer and scholar Hari Sharma.

For the first time, Tikapur’s residents will have the chance to engage with Abhi Subedi, a renowned scholar in Nepali art and literature.

The festival will feature 21 debate sessions, with short story writers such as Narayan Dhakal, Keshav Dahal, Buddhisagar, Saraswati Pratiksha, Pragati Rai, Saguna Shah, Ranjana Niraula, Suman Barsha Ghimire, Prabha Baral, and others discussing various topics related to Nepali short stories.

Non-fiction writers Bindu Subedi, Yubaraj Nayaghre, Prateek Dhakal, Mohan Mainali, and Ghanshyam Khadka will engage in discussions analyzing Nepali non-fiction and the philosophy of life.

Critics Laxman Prasad Gautam, Gyanu Adhikari, Dr. Bratraj Acharya, former Vice-Chancellor of Sudurpaschim University Ammarraj Joshi, and Dhananjaya Timilsina will present their critical perspectives on Nepali literature.

Poets such as Shyamal, Biplav Prateek, Seema Abhas, and young talents from Sudurpaschim including Devvrat, Khem Batas, BP Astu, Hemanta Shishir, and Kalpana Joshi will debate Nepali poetry.

The festival will also feature renowned actress Keki Adhikari and actor Bijay Baral as main attractions.
