Main opposition Maoist Center calls for PM Oli’s resignation
The main opposition Maoist Center has demanded the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
In a meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, MP Madhav Sapkota called for the resignation of Prime Minister Oli.
Sapkota criticized the government’s inaction, stating that as a result, Nepal has been placed on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list for money laundering and terrorist financing.
Bamdev suggests former King Gyanendra to form a party and become PM
National Assembly member Bamdev Gautam has advised former King Gyanendra Shah to enter politics and run for prime minister instead of seeking to reclaim the throne.
Speaking at Sunday’s National Assembly meeting, Gautam suggested that the former king should establish a democratic political party and register it with the Election Commission.
“You should abandon the desire to become king again, form a democratic political party under your leadership, register it with the Election Commission, and participate in the 2084 elections,” Gautam said. “Get elected, become prime minister through Parliament, and lead Nepal toward development and prosperity.”
Yogesh Bhattarai on Pathibhara Cable Car: Mixing religion with politics fueled controversy
CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has raised concerns over the ongoing protests against the construction of a cable car at Pathibhara in Taplejung.
Despite the government granting necessary approvals, opposition groups have politicized the issue, Bhattarai said during Sunday’s House of Representatives meeting.
He emphasized that the private sector (IME Group, led by Chandra Dhakal) was given legal authorization to build the cable car and urged everyone to acknowledge this fact.
Trade deficit widens by 6.2% in Nepal’s foreign trade
Nepal has recorded a trade deficit of Rs 861.38 billion in the foreign trade, which totaled Rs 1,115.79 billion in the first seven months of the current fiscal year.
According to data released by the Department of Customs, which covers imports and exports up to the end of Magh month, Nepal’s imports amounted to Rs 988.58 billion, while exports stood at Rs 127.20 billion.
The data revealed a 46.5% increase in exports compared to the same period last year, while imports grew by 10.09%.
Prohibitory order imposed in Taplejung amid Cable Car dispute
The Taplejung District Administration Office has announced a prohibitory order following escalating tensions over the Kathmandu-Pathibhara cable car project.
Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma made the announcement public at midnight on Saturday.
According to the notice, the prohibitory order will be enforced in the Taplejung district headquarters, Phungling Bazaar, and the Kaflepati and Baludanda areas of Pathibhara.
Gold price rises by Rs 300 per tola today
The price of gold, which dropped by one thousand rupees per tola on Friday, increased today. Meanwhile, silver has become cheaper.
According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Federation, gold has risen by three hundred rupees per tola today.
The price of gold is now set at one lakh seventy thousand three hundred rupees per tola.
