KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is set to hold a large-scale demonstration and mass rally in Kathmandu today.
According to the UML Bagmati Province Committee, a peaceful protest and mass assembly will take place at Bhrikutimandap, Exhibition Road, starting at 11 am.
The UML has been protesting against the dissolution of the House of Representatives and what it calls the “unconstitutional formation” of the government led by Sushila Karki.
As part of its first phase of protests, UML organized ward-level gatherings across the country on November 8, followed by demonstrations and rallies in most municipalities on November 11. The party also held district-level protests and assemblies on November 15. Today’s event in Kathmandu marks the culmination of this phase of its national protest campaign.
Similarly, on Friday, November 21, the UML announced the formation of an 11-member National Volunteers Force under the leadership of Pushparaj Shrestha.
