Police nab suspect with stolen jewelry in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: Nepal Police arrested a man accused of stealing gold and silver jewelry along with other valuables in MId-Baneshwor, Kahtmandu.

A team from the Police Circle, Baneshwor, arrested 20-year-old Sagar Bishwakarma of Sindhupalchowk for allegedly breaking the lock of a room in a house at Kathmandu Metropolitan City–31 and stealing various items. Police made the arrest public on Friday.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, Bishwakarma was apprehended with tools used in the theft as well as stolen property.

Police recovered one khukuri, one gold ring, one gold bangle, a pair of gold earrings, one pearl necklace, one gold bracelet, and one silver coin from his possession.

Additionally, police seized 22 foreign currency coins, two iron wrenches, two Sony cameras, two camera chargers, one video player, one memory card, and 27 gold and silver bills, according to SP Bhattarai.

The Kathmandu District Court has granted police a five-day remand to continue the investigation, authorities said.
