Youth Federation Nepal denies involvement in arson at former President Bhandari’s residence

KATHMANDU: The Youth Federation Nepal (Rastriya Yuwa Sangh Nepal), an organization affiliated with the CPN-UML, has objected to media reports linking it to the recent arson incident at the residence of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the association said it had taken serious note of claims made by certain media outlets and social media users identifying Sonam Thebe, one of the alleged individuals involved in the incident, as a leader of the organization.

“The Rastriya Yuwa Sangh Nepal has always worked under democratic, social, and legal values in matters concerning democracy, nationalism, and the livelihood of the people,” the statement, signed by the organization’s spokesperson Niroj Poudel, read.

Clarifying that Thebe currently holds no position or responsibility within the association, the group accused unnamed individuals of attempting to tarnish its image by linking its name to the incident.

The association urged the media and the public not to be misled by false claims, warning that any leader or member found involved in activities damaging public or private property would face action in line with internal disciplinary rules and legal provisions.

Reaffirming its commitment to democratic principles, national unity, and public welfare, the statement further noted, “The Rastriya Yuwa Sangh Nepal will never support any activity that goes against these core values.”
