HoR election: Voter count in Jhapa reaches 682,993

JHAPA: A total of 2,622 new voters have been added to the electoral roll in Jhapa district, bringing the total number of registered voters to 682,993 for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, 2026.

According to Prem Prakash Neupane, Information Officer at the District Election Office, the voter count has increased from the previous figure of 680,371. These newly registered citizens will be eligible to cast their votes for the first time in the upcoming federal election.

Following the interim government’s decision to amend the election law through an ordinance and allow the inclusion of new voters, the voter registration drive is currently in full swing.

“Up to 300 people have registered in a single day,” said Neupane, noting a strong interest among the younger population to participate in the democratic process.
