Nepal Airlines resumes flights to Rara Airport after four months

NEPALGUNJ: After a four-month hiatus, Nepal Airlines resumed flights to Talcha Airport today.

The state-owned airline had previously operated flights to the remote airport three times a week until mid-April.

The regular flights had been a significant relief for the residents of Mugu, who rely on air transport for essential travel.

During the past four months, the absence of flights caused difficulties for tourists and other travelers visiting Rara, Nepal’s largest lake, as they struggled to access the area by air.

From today, Nepal Airlines has officially restarted its service to Rara Airport, confirmed Nabin Kumar Bista, Head of Nepal Airlines’ Rara Airport office.

Sumitra Rawal, a passenger traveling to Nepalgunj for medical treatment, said, “Regular flights would bring much-needed relief to the people of remote areas.”

Although flights were disrupted due to various reasons, Bista assured that the airline would take initiatives to ensure regular services going forward. Alongside Nepal Airlines, Summit Air, Tara Air, and Sita Air have also been operating flights to Rara Airport.
