SAFF U-17 women’s football: Nepal defeats Bhutan



KATHMANDU: Nepal came from behind to defeat Bhutan in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-17 Women’s Championship.

In the match held today at Changlimithang Stadium in Bhutan, Nepal defeated the hosts by a score of 2-1.

Nepal was trailing 1-0 at halftime but equalized in the 58th minute. Sahara Limbu leveled the score, canceling out Bhutan’s opener by Kunden Sonam Shegel in the 42nd minute. Sahara then struck again in the 77th minute to give Nepal a 2-1 lead, securing the victory.

Nepal, which has played two matches so far, has collected three points. In their first match, Nepal suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat against India.

This marks the second consecutive loss for Bhutan, who were defeated 3-1 by Bangladesh in their opening match.
