RSP suspends Hari Prasad over fake certificate allegations

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has suspended its leader, Hari Prasad Kandel, following his arrest on charges of producing fake academic certificates from institutions in Nepal and India.

Kandel, who served as coordinator for RSP’s Bagmati Province Training Department, was suspended by Ramakanta Rimal, acting head of the party’s Central Disciplinary Commission, on Friday. The suspension aims to facilitate investigation and ensure that party responsibilities are not compromised during the inquiry.

“If found guilty, further action may be taken. Meanwhile, Kandel will not hold any position or responsibility within the party,” said Rimal.

Kandel, a former award-winning principal and noted educator, was arrested by Rupandehi police in connection with the production and distribution of fraudulent academic documents. The party’s action underscores its commitment to maintaining accountability among its leaders.
