Nepal face hosts Bhutan in SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship

THIMPHU: Nepal will take on hosts Bhutan today in their second match of the SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship at the Changlimithang Stadium. The game kicks off at 5:45 PM Nepali time.

Both teams head into the clash looking for their first win of the tournament after suffering defeats in their opening fixtures. Nepal endured a heavy 7-0 loss against India, while Bhutan went down 3-1 to Bangladesh.

Nepal’s head coach Chet Narayan Shrestha has set his sights on lifting the championship trophy, but his side’s disappointing opening match has already put them under pressure.

The regional tournament, which runs until August 31, features only four teams — Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Bhutan. Matches are played in a double round-robin league format, with the team collecting the most points crowned champions.

In today’s other fixture, India will face Bangladesh.

Nepal’s remaining fixtures:

  • Aug 24: Nepal vs Bangladesh
  • Aug 27: Bangladesh vs Nepal
  • Aug 29: India vs Nepal
  • Aug 31: Bhutan vs Nepal
