Unified Socialist instructs nationwide programs to mark foundation day

KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) has instructed all its district committees to celebrate the party’s fourth foundation day on August 25 by organizing various programs across the country.

The party has also called on its people’s organizations, both within Nepal and abroad, to mark the occasion. According to Deputy Chief of the Central Publicity Department, Damodar Aryal, the party has directed its central, provincial, district, and local structures—as well as its affiliated organizations and departments—to celebrate the day with creative events.

District committees are expected to organize activities such as cleanliness campaigns, tree plantations, blood donation drives, interactive sessions, souvenir releases, and the exchange of best wishes.

A central program will be held in Kathmandu, where leaders of various political parties have been invited. At a seminar titled Current Status, Challenges, and Direction of the Nepali Communist Movement, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal will speak on the contribution of the Nepali communist movement to the global communist cause.

Senior party leaders are also scheduled to review issues such as polarization among leftist forces, ideological deviations within communist leadership, the current national political context, and the role of the communist party moving forward.

The Communist Party of Nepal was originally founded in 1949 in Kolkata, India, with the aim of building a prosperous nation and achieving true liberation for the Nepali people. Over time, however, the party has splintered into various factions.

The CPN (Unified Socialist) was established on August 25, 2021, in response to ideological differences with the CPN-UML, with the goal of revitalizing and reorganizing the communist movement.
