Forest Officer arrested with over Rs 7 lakh in bribe



KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Purna Shankar Yadav, a senior forest officer at the Division Forest Office in Dhangadhi, Kailali, on bribery charges.

Yadav was caught red-handed by a team from the CIAA’s Kanchanpur office on Monday evening with Rs 731,000 in cash. He had allegedly demanded the bribe from service seekers in exchange for facilitating the release of documents related to the Gwasi Community Forest in Chure Rural Municipality–6 and approving a wooden fencing request.

CIAA spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel confirmed the arrest and said further investigation is ongoing.
