Rapti Institute of Health Sciences to build 400-bed hospital, Rs 2.74 billion budget approved



KATHMANDU: The sixth senate meeting of the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences has approved a budget of Rs 2.74 billion for the upcoming fiscal year.

The meeting, held Sunday at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and Chancellor KP Sharma Oli, endorsed plans for the construction of a 400-bed hospital. It also approved policies and programs focused on academic, research, and administrative development.

Additionally, the meeting passed amendments to certain provisions of the ‘Rules on Terms and Facilities for Teachers and Staff, 2078’ and decided to update the institute’s official logo.

Addressing the meeting, PM Oli stressed the historical roots of medical science in Nepal and urged the institute to be fully equipped in terms of infrastructure and workforce to deliver quality education and healthcare. He also highlighted the importance of mobilizing medical professionals and health workers to raise public awareness through mass media and social networks in line with the government’s vision for a healthier Nepal.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bikash Lamichhane informed the meeting that implementation of the master plan for constructing the 400-bed teaching hospital has already begun as per the previous senate’s decision.
