NEPSE index drops by 32.93 points



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 32.93 points on the first trading day (Sunday) of the week, closing at 2,595.97.

A total of 21,154,055 shares from 310 companies were traded 87,300 times, resulting in a turnover of Rs 9.15 billion. All sectoral sub-indices recorded losses in today’s session.

The hotel and tourism sector posted the largest decline, dropping by 3.13 percent, followed by the hydropower sector, which fell by 2.78 percent.

The banking sector decreased by 0.85 percent, development banks by 0.88 percent, finance companies by 1.09 percent, investment companies by 0.98 percent, and life insurance by 1.00 percent.

Similarly, the production and processing sector dropped by 1.05 percent, microfinance by 1.15 percent, mutual funds by 0.37 percent, non-life insurance by 0.48 percent, trade by 0.71 percent, and others by 0.61 percent.

Among individual companies, Joshi Hydropower Development Company Limited recorded the highest gain, with its share price increasing by 9.98 percent. In contrast, Pure Energy Limited hit the lower circuit.

Dordikhola Hydropower Company Limited topped the market in both transaction amount and trading volume, with shares worth Rs 757.4 million traded, amounting to Rs 218.38 million.
