Prachanda and Biplav agree to strengthen cooperation

KATHMANDU: Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’, General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), have agreed to strengthen cooperation between their respective parties.

Biplav visited Prachanda at his Khumaltar residence on Saturday, accompanied by party spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma ‘Prakanda’.

According to Prachanda’s secretariat, the two leaders also held discussions on contemporary political developments.

“A consensus was reached to activate the Socialist Front and to continue dialogue and cooperation towards potential party unification,” said a member of the secretariat.

Prachanda has previously stated that he has been holding talks with Biplav and other former Maoist leaders with the aim of party unity.

However, Biplav’s faction has often criticized the Maoist Centre, alleging a lack of seriousness in efforts toward unification.
