MYAGDI: The upgradation of the Ring Road along the banks of the Kaligandaki and Myagdi rivers in Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi, has been completed 20 days ahead of schedule.
The project was undertaken under a contract signed between the Urban Development and Building Office, Baglung, and a Kathmandu-based construction company, with a total contract value of Rs 30 million, 19 thousand.
Project engineer Birbal Sunar confirmed that all planned works—including the construction of drains, retaining walls, and slopes—have been completed. “Technical measurements have been taken, but payment is still pending,” he added.
A 900-meter-long and 5- to 6-meter-wide sloped road has been constructed, stretching from Beni-8 Kalipul to the west side of the open stage via Dobhan. Road markings have been completed using I-CAT paint.
Subash Chandra Karki, the operator of the construction company, attributed the timely completion to efficient mobilization of labor and machinery, along with prompt procurement of construction materials.
“Many projects are being delayed due to budget shortages, economic challenges, rising costs of construction materials, and social issues. Despite these hurdles, we managed to complete this and two other projects ahead of schedule,” he said.
Among the other projects is the Beni–Arthunge–Toripani–Pakhapani road, implemented by Beni Municipality, which was completed three months ahead of its scheduled deadline.
The project involved road widening and construction of gabion walls, drains, and slopes in challenging areas such as Prabhesbindu, Ratopahiro, Neptechaur, Kaura, Arate, Githini, and Akhet. Work was completed by the end of Chaitra.
Another early-completion project includes the Beni–Galeshwor road upgradation under the Beni–Jomsom–Korla Road Project.
Despite timely completion, Karki expressed concern over delays in payment. “We are proud to deliver quality work ahead of schedule, but delayed payments have created confusion and uncertainty,” he remarked.
