Mechi Customs Office collects nearly Rs 13 billion in revenue over 10 months

JHAPA: The Mechi Customs Office has collected Rs 12.94 billion in revenue during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year 2081/82, achieving 91.51 percent of its target for the same period.

According to Ishwar Kumar Humagain, Information Officer at the Customs Office, the revenue target up to the end of Baisakh was Rs 14.14 billion.

He noted that during the same period in the previous fiscal year 2080/81, the target was Rs 15.86 billion, but only 76.85 percent of that amount was collected. “This year, however, we have achieved 91.51 percent of the target,” he said.

The office’s data shows that a significant portion of the revenue—60.55 percent, or Rs 7.83 billion—came from the import of petroleum products.

Revenue was also collected from other major imports, including Rs 5.83 billion from vegetables, Rs 3.65 billion from transport vehicles and their spare parts, Rs 2.41 billion from mineral products, Rs 1.93 billion from coffee, and Rs 2.02 billion from pulses.

In the same 10-month period, goods worth Rs 21.45 billion were exported through Mechi Customs, generating Rs 1.98 billion in revenue. Imports totaled Rs 38.88 billion, from which Rs 12.74 billion was collected in revenue.
