Gold price nears Rs 200,000 per tola

KATHMANDU: The price of gold in Nepal has surged to a record high, reaching Rs 197,900 per tola on Sunday, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Assocaition.

This marks an increase of Rs 6,900 compared to Monday’s rate.

The rise mirrors the continuous upward trend in the international market, where gold is currently trading at USD 3,479 per ounce.

Silver prices have also seen a slight increase, climbing by Rs 10 per tola to reach Rs 1,970.

This is the highest price gold has ever recorded in the local market, prompting concerns among consumers while investors view it as a sign of market uncertainty and a shift toward safer assets.
