Arrest warrant issued against UML leader Ain Mahar in rape case

KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has issued an arrest warrant against UML central member Ain Mahar in connection with a rape case.

The decision came following a hearing on the complaint filed by Rashmila Kumari Dhami, who alleges that Mahar repeatedly sexually abused her.

A bench comprising High Court Judges Brajesh Kumar Pyakurel and Krishnaram Koirala ordered the arrest of Mahar.

Advocates Surendra Bhandari, Indra Aryal, and Anjana Aryal represented Dhami in the case, arguing for justice on her behalf.

The victim, Rashmila Kumari Dhami, initially approached the police to file a rape complaint, but her attempt was thwarted as the authorities refused to register it.

Following this, she sought assistance from the District Government Attorney’s Office, which subsequently decided to keep the case pending.

Unfazed by the delays, Dhami took her plea to the Patan High Court, demanding Mahar’s arrest and a thorough investigation into her allegations.

She further staged a hunger strike, calling for immediate legal action against Mahar and expressing her frustration with the lack of progress in her case.
