POKHARA: Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey has emphasized the need for collective efforts to ensure the regular operation of international flights from Pokhara International Airport.

Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Destination Gandaki’ program in Pokhara, Chief Minister Pandey stressed the collaboration between federal and provincial governments to address operational challenges.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to tourism promotion, Pandey said, “Tourism is our first priority. However, the geographical terrain and unpredictable weather make it difficult to ensure timely connectivity to all destinations. The regular operation of the international airport remains a challenge, but we are working to resolve these issues through coordinated efforts.”

With Pokhara and Gandaki Province declared as key tourism hubs, Pandey noted that the provincial government is actively identifying and enhancing the region’s tourism potential.

He outlined plans to increase international marketing efforts to attract more foreign tourists while focusing on maximizing income from tourism rather than just visitor numbers.

The Chief Minister also announced initiatives to promote religious tourism by developing sites like Muktinath, Manakamana, and Tribeni Dham, alongside identifying new religious destinations in the region.
