NEPSE sees marginal growth amid decreased trading volume

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 5.08 points on Tuesday, closing at 2,613. Despite the slight increase, market volatility remained subdued throughout the day. Trading volume declined compared to the previous session, with transactions totaling Rs 6.19 billion, down from Rs 6.57 billion the day prior.

Out of the listed companies, the stock prices of 106 firms increased, 139 saw declines, and 8 remained unchanged. The insurance sector emerged as a standout performer, with life insurance stocks rising by 1.10 percent and non-life insurance gaining 1.78 percent.

No exports from 10 out of 28 customs points in Nepal

Ten out of Nepal’s 28 operational customs points for international trade has recorded zero exports in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Department of Customs, no goods were exported through customs points such as Tatopani, Sunauli, Sunsari, Janakpur, Chobhar, Sati, Maheshpur, Rajbiraj, Gautam Buddha International Airport, Thadi, and Triveni during the review period.

While exports were non-existent, Tatopani customs accounted for 3.05% of the total imports. Other customs points with zero exports saw less than 1% of total imports.

Gold prices rise by Rs 1,100

The price of gold has risen by Rs 1,100 per tola on Tuesday, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Association. Gold, which was traded at Rs 157,000 per tola on Monday, is now priced at Rs 158,100 per tola.

Nepal Micro Insurance opens IPO for overseas Nepali workers

Nepal Micro Insurance Limited has opened the sale of its ordinary shares (IPO) for Nepalis working abroad. The company has received approval from the Securities Board of Nepal to issue 2.25 million shares at Rs 100 per unit.

Of the total shares, 10 percent (225,000 units) have been allocated for Nepalis employed overseas. Similarly, 3 percent (67,500 units) have been reserved for the company’s employees, while 5 percent (112,500 units) are earmarked for a collective investment fund. The remaining 1.845 million shares will be available to the general public.

Rs 60 million worth ginger sold in Triveni rural municipality

Triveni rural municipality of Rukum Paschim district has sold ginger worth Rs 60 million in a year.

Although the number of farmers declined in the local level as compared to the previous year, the production of spicy plant was higher, fetching more income.

Chief of agriculture section at the local level, Ramesh Pun, informed that the ginger farmers made a good income by selling their produce worth Rs 60 million. A total of 1,950 households from 10 wards of Triveni rural municipality have been doing ginger farming.

Tea worth Rs 2.95 billion exported in six months

The Mechi Customs Office has witnessed 55.70 percent rise in tea export in the last six months of the current fiscal year, 2024/25.

The export of the tea in the past six months amounted to nearly Rs 3 billion.

A total 11,232 metric tons of tea was exported via the Mechi Customs Office, according to information officer, Ganapati Kandel. In the same period last year, it recorded an export worth Rs 1.90 billion.
