Gen-Z movement’s injured protesters stage sit-in at Maitighar, oppose UML’s planned event

KATHMANDU: Injured participants of the Gen-Z movement from the September 8 and 9 protests have begun a sit-in at Maitighar Mandala on Friday.

The group took to the streets after the CPN-UML mobilized its youth supporters ahead of announcing the formation of its “National Volunteers Force,” prompting concerns among the injured Gen-Z protesters.

The injured demonstrators say they are staging the sit-in to prevent UML from holding its program at Maitighar.

Police have been making public announcements, stating that no assembly has been permitted at Maitighar today, and have urged both sides to maintain restraint.

UML was scheduled to announce its National Volunteers Force at 11 AM at the same location. Party Chair KP Sharma Oli is set to formally unveil the new force during the event.
