Energy Minister’s decision on dues will be implemented through board meeting: Hitendra Dev

KATHMANDU: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Hitendra Dev Shakya has said that the decision made by Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising regarding the collection of outstanding dues on dedicated and trunk lines will be implemented through a board meeting of the Authority.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Shakya said Minister Ghising’s decision, taken immediately after assuming office, will be taken forward by the NEA board.

“This is a decision of the Minister, who also serves as the board chair. Once the board decides, it will be implemented immediately,” Shakya said, adding that a board meeting would be held tomorrow or the day after to finalize the matter.

He clarified that while he has not yet held personal discussions with Minister Ghising, there have been consultations with secretaries and joint secretaries regarding the board meeting.

Minister Ghising’s first decision after assuming office was to initiate the collection of dues from dedicated and trunk line consumers.
