Central electricity expansion transforms life in Bhojpur’s Temkemaiyung

BHOJPUR: The expansion of central electricity into the remote areas of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality in Bhojpur district has brought significant improvements to daily life, offering much-needed convenience to communities long isolated by geography.

In particular, residents of Lungin, a remote settlement in Ward No. 4 Nagi, are now experiencing the benefits of electricity for the first time. Located deep within a forested area, Lungin recently gained access to central power through a substantial investment by the local government.

Ram Bahadur Rai, a local resident of Temkemaiyung-4 Lungin, expressed relief and gratitude: “After the local government came into operation, electricity reached our village. Despite the remoteness, life has become easier, and the days of living in darkness are finally over.”

Another resident, Baliraj Rai, noted that access to electricity has also improved communication and access to information. “We are very happy to have electricity in such a remote village. Now we can use the internet and watch television right from our homes. Children can study comfortably in the evening. The entire village has brightened—literally and figuratively.”

It takes three to four hours on foot through forested trails to reach the rural municipality’s administrative center, Annapurna, or nearby villages. Despite such challenges, electricity service has now been extended to all nine wards of Temkemaiyung, which spans 173.41 square kilometers.

According to local officials, every household in the rural municipality now has access to electricity, marking a major milestone in local infrastructure development.
