RSP’s Shiva Nepali  accuses major parties of deflecting corruption scandals

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Shiva Nepali on Thursday accused major political parties of pointing fingers at emerging forces whenever issues of corruption, smuggling, or other scandals are raised.

Speaking during the allocated time at the start of the House of Representatives meeting, Nepali said larger parties fear even the mention of corruption and trafficking.

“When serious issues like human trafficking are raised, why do the big parties panic? They are afraid to even hear the word corruption, and they tremble at the mention of smuggling,” Nepali said. “Instead of addressing the scandals, they point fingers at us, the new force.”

He remarked that throughout history, nations have given rise to new political forces when corruption and injustice reached extreme levels. Nepali also accused the government of mistreating RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane in an effort to weaken the alternative political force.

“In the bid to destroy a new political alternative, injustice was done to Rabi Lamichhane. Now, in the name of arithmetic, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, a daughter from the indigenous community, is being targeted. What could be a greater insult to democracy than this?” he said.

Announcing that the RSP’s agitation will continue, Nepali declared a boycott of Parliament. Following him, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire allotted time to Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Dhruva Bahadur Pradhan, who also announced a boycott, reiterating that their protest would go on.
