Surkhet records increasing dengue cases



SURKHET: Four people died from dengue fever in Surkhet district during the last fiscal year.

According to the District Public Health Service Office, Surkhet, the district reported 1,837 dengue cases and four deaths during this period.

Udaya BC, the focal person for dengue control at the office, stated that the risk of dengue fever is rising annually in Surkhet.

He noted that 639 cases were recorded in fiscal year 2020/21, increasing to 1,322 cases in 2021/22 and further to 1,484 cases in 2022/23. However, the number of cases slightly decreased in 2023/24.

The office has identified Birendranagar, Panchapuri, and Gurvakot as high-risk zones for dengue fever.
