11th International Yoga Day marked in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The 11th International Yoga Day is being observed across Nepal on Saturday with various events and public demonstrations under the global theme “Yoga for Humanity and Health of the Earth.”

In Kathmandu, a yoga event was organized at Narayan Chaur in Naxal where several organizations, including Yoga Bhumi Nepal and Ward 16 Yoga Sadhana Center of Lalitpur, showcased different yoga postures and exercises.

Nepal joined the global celebration after the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014. The first official celebration was held on June 21, 2015.

Since then, the day has been marked annually in Nepal with growing participation, aiming to raise awareness of yoga’s benefits for mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
