Land Commission begins verification of squatters in Bhojpur

BHOJPUR: The Land Commission has begun verifying squatters in Bhojpur based on previously collected data. The verification process is currently underway to identify eligible landless individuals for land allocation.

In Shadananda Municipality, 60 landless Dalits and squatters have been identified for verification at the municipal level. Deviram Chaulagain, Chairperson of the Land Commission in Bhojpur, confirmed that these individuals were recommended through ward-level facilitation committees.

A seven-day public notice has been issued at the ward level in Pauwadung, Hatuwagadhi, Salpasilicho, and Aamchok rural municipalities to support the verification process.

According to the Commission, the next phase—distribution of land ownership certificates—will proceed following final decisions at the municipal level and re-verification at the district level.

“We’ve initiated the verification process at the ward level,” said Chairperson Chaulagain. “Sixty individuals have already been verified in Shadananda Municipality, and the process is ongoing in other areas as well.”

The Commission began this effort after collecting detailed data on landless Dalits, squatters, and unorganized settlers. Those who pass the final verification will be granted land ownership in accordance with government regulations.
