House of Representatives meeting taking place today



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is taking place today, continuing discussions on the Appropriation Bill, 2082 BS.

According to the Parliament Secretariat, today’s meeting, scheduled for 11:00 AM, will focus on the budget proposals of ten different ministries.

The session will include deliberations on the annual appropriations for the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Drinking Water, and the Ministry of Health and Population. Discussions will also cover the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Alongside general discussions, several members of parliament will present proposals to cut expenditures under various ministry headings in the Appropriation Bill, 2082.

MP Amaresh Kumar Singh is slated to propose reducing the allocations for the Ministries of Federal Affairs, Energy, Defense, Health, Education, Foreign Affairs, Labor, Home, and Communications to just one rupee each.

Similarly, MP Prem Suwal is also expected to submit a similar proposal affecting the same ministries, along with the Ministry of Drinking Water.

Additionally, MP Aman Lal Modi will propose reducing the budget for the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration to one rupee, while MP Prabhu Sah will suggest the same for the Ministries of Energy, Health, and Drinking Water.

MP Madhav Sapkota will put forward a proposal to cut NPR 100 from the budget of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.

Likewise, MP Ranendra Barali will seek a NPR 100 reduction in the Ministry of Defense’s budget. MP Gyanu Basnet Subedi will propose a NPR 100 cut in the Ministry of Health and Population, while MP Urmila Majhi will call for reducing the Ministry of Drinking Water’s allocation to one rupee. MP Hit Bahadur Tamang is expected to make a similar proposal targeting the Ministry of Education.
