Supreme Court postpones hearing involving Rabi Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court of Nepal has postponed scheduled hearings for several cases related to former Deputy Prime Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane that were set for today.

As per the court’s updated schedule, a habeas corpus petition filed by Lamichhane’s wife, Nikita Paudel, was among the cases listed for hearing.

The petition names the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers as the defendant and reportedly questions the legality of Lamichhane’s custody or the manner in which investigations are being handled.

Alongside this, two major cases related to cooperative fraud and organized crime were also slated for hearing.

One of these cases names Lamichhane as the main accused, while the other involves Chhabilal Joshi. Both cases involve allegations of extensive embezzlement through fraudulent cooperative operations.

The hearings were to proceed before Justices Nahakul Subedi and Bal Krishna Dhakal. However, all proceedings have been postponed, and the court has not yet announced new dates for the hearings.
