Kathmandu Metropolis offering free breast and cervical cancer screening from March 25

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has announced a new initiative to provide free screening and initial treatment for breast and cervical cancer starting from March 25.

To avail of the service, individuals must first register their details at the nearest Health Promotion Center.

After registration, they will receive a referral ticket, which they can take to the ground floor of the Bir Hospital Surgical Building for testing.

Explaining the need for the referral slip, Chanda Bhatta stated, “Since the details recorded at the health promotion center can be viewed at the testing center, patients do not have to wait in line to register again. This arrangement has been made to streamline the testing process by allowing patients to register at the nearest center.”

The initiative aims to enhance early detection and timely treatment of breast and cervical cancer, reducing the burden on healthcare facilities and promoting public health awareness.
