KATHMANDU: The Home Ministry Promotion Recommendation Committee has recommended three Senior Superintendents (SSPs) of the Armed Police Force (APF) for promotion to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police.

The recommendations were made on Thursday.

The officers recommended for the promotion are Krishna Dhakal, Dipendra Kunwar, and Bishnu Prasad Bhatta. However, candidates who are not satisfied with the promotion decisions have the option to file complaints within seven days.

The Home Ministry has said complaints regarding promotions and transfers within the military organization will not be entertained if filed out of dissatisfaction after the decision has been made.

Krishnaraj Pathak, the most senior SSP, was notably left out of this promotion recommendation. Pathak had also been excluded from the previous promotion list.

His batchmates, including Suresh Shrestha, Anjani Kumar Pokharel, Dipendra Shah, Purushottam Thapa, and Deepak Adhikari, had already been promoted.

Among the promoted officers, Kunwar’s connection to political figures has raised eyebrows. He is a relative of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, with Kunwar being the sister-in-law of Deuba’s personal secretary, Bhanu Deuba.

Kunwar, who had previously ranked first when promoted to SSP, has been accused of making an unnatural leap in his promotion.

Dhakal, from the first batch, and Bhatta, from the second batch, are also among those recommended for the higher rank.
