KATHMANDU: A total of 1,081 CPN-UML party cadres from Achham have joined with Dr. Bhim Rawal’s Motherland Awakening Campaign.

On Tuesday, a group statement was issued announcing that 1,086 individuals, including 1,081 UML cadres, have aligned themselves with Rawal’s campaign.

According to an aide of Rawal, all 1,086 individuals publicly declared their support for the campaign.

Among them are key UML figures, including Sudurpaschim Province committee members, seven members from the UML Sudurpaschim provincial department, two central department members, five district committee secretariat members, one central representative council member, 17 district committee members, three former district committee members, and 13 district advisors.

Additionally, 12 municipal committee officials, acting district president of the All Nepal Women’s Association, eight leaders from various UML-affiliated organizations, 22 ward committee officials, and 637 organized members have also joined the campaign.

At a press conference held in Achham on Tuesday, Prakash Shah, head of the UML district organization department, also joined Rawal’s campaign. While he clarified that he has not officially left UML, he expressed his support for the ‘Motherland Awakening Campaign’.

Rawal, expelled from UM, is currently unaffiliated with any political party. After a recent visit to Koshi Province as part of his campaign, he has now shifted focus to his home province, Sudurpaschim, traveling through Safebagar to Achham.

Observers believe that Rawal’s campaign could deal a significant blow to UML in Sudurpaschim. Speculation is rife that he may launch a new political party after strengthening his campaign’s momentum.
