NEPALGUNJ: Air services at Nepalgunj Airport have been suspended since this morning due to thick fog and low visibility caused by the ongoing cold wave.

Rinki Mallik, the Traffic Controller at the Nepalgunj Civil Aviation Office, confirmed that visibility had dropped to just 50 meters, making it impossible to operate flights.

The airport, which handles over 50 daily flights to destinations such as Kathmandu, Dhangadhi, Pokhara, and various hilly districts, requires a minimum visibility of 1,000 meters for takeoff and 1,600 meters for landing.

Due to the current weather conditions, no flights have been able to operate today.

Passengers traveling to Kathmandu and other destinations are stranded at the airport, waiting for the weather conditions to improve.

The cold wave has also severely impacted daily life in the region, further complicating the situation.
